It takes a community to create hope and healing. This year, that community includes The Rotary Club of Phillipsburg.<\/p>\n

The New Jersey based club\u2019s mission is simple but profound, to \u201cprovide service above self.\u201d For more than 80 years, they\u2019ve been doing just that, improving their community by supporting first responders, providing resources for organizations fighting opioid abuse, raising money for students attending college and fighting food insecurity. This year, their service includes cancer patients and caregivers, as the club hosts their 2021 Golf Outing to benefit Cancer Hope Network. The event will be held Monday, September 27th<\/sup>\u00a0at Oak Hill Golf Club.<\/p>\n

\u201cCancer Hope Network is grateful to the Phillipsburg Rotary for their support of our mission,\u201d said CHN Executive Director Cynthia Gutierrez Bernstein. \u201cThe cancer patients and caregivers we serve are fortunate to have this dedicated community of volunteers, donors and sponsors in their corner.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Rotary will be recognized as the Flame of Courage award sponsor at Cancer Hope Network\u2019s own outing (rescheduled for August 30.\u201d The award recognizes an organization or individual who Has shown exceptional courage, spirit, and determination in the face of their own cancer fight or has helped others through theirs.\u201d<\/p>\n

For the Rotary, the decision to make Cancer Hope Network this year\u2019s primary beneficiary was simple.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is an unfortunate fact of life that cancer affects many of us \u2013 and the Rotary Club of Phillipsburg is no exception,\u201d said Todd Tersigni Rotary president and Phillipsburg mayor. \u201cWe are proud to champion Cancer Hope Network because they provide support for people facing cancer at many points on their journey. Our club has members who have found support being matched with a CHN volunteer \u2013 and our immediate past president serves as a volunteer with the group.\u201d<\/p>\n

About Cancer Hope Network<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cancer Hope Network provides free one-on-one peer support to adult cancer patients and their loved ones. Our 400+ survivor and caregiver volunteers provide support from diagnosis, through treatment and beyond. Support Volunteers have faced more than 80 types of cancer. (More than 98% of the cancers that will be diagnosed this year.)
