{"id":5080,"date":"2021-05-04T10:19:00","date_gmt":"2021-05-04T10:19:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.cancerhopenetwork.org\/?p=5080"},"modified":"2023-05-11T09:35:56","modified_gmt":"2023-05-11T13:35:56","slug":"poker-tournament-raises-more-than-15k-to-benefit-cancer-hope-network","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cancerhopenetwork.org\/blog\/poker-tournament-raises-more-than-15k-to-benefit-cancer-hope-network\/","title":{"rendered":"Poker Tournament raises more than $15K to benefit Cancer Hope Network","gt_translate_keys":[{"key":"rendered","format":"text"}]},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>You gotta know when to hold \u2018em, when to fold \u2018em, when to \u2026..bet big in support of patients and caregivers facing cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last month, more than 50 people from across the nation gathered virtually for CHN\u2019s first-ever poker tournament, hosted by Trustee Glenn Alba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/cancerhopenetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Group-Pic_Blurred.png?w=800&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5082\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The event was sponsored by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opterracapital.com\/\">Opterra Capital<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/landservicesusa.com\/\">Land Services US<\/a> and Simpson Thacher. Prizes included the Barsys 2.0 and Barsys Coaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA cancer journey is frightening and isolating. Thanks to Cancer Hope Network\u2019s survivor and caregiver volunteers, patients don\u2019t have to face it alone. Our tournament was an opportunity to have some fun on behalf of a good cause,\u201d said event host Glenn Alba. \u201cI\u2019m proud to serve as a trustee and thankful to our sponsors Land Services, Simpson Thacher and Barsys. I\u2019m also appreciative of the large cohort of attendees from our friends at Deloitte.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The patients and caregivers we serve are fortunate to have Glenn Alba in their corner. Glenn brings his all to the fight against cancer as he marshals friends, family and colleagues to ensure no one faces cancer alone. We\u2019re grateful for his support and for hope that will be made possible by our poker players and sponsors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Proceeds from the event will support Cancer Hope Network\u2019s core mission \u2013 providing one-on-one peer support for people facing cancer.
